Abstract
The aim of the study is to determine the intensity of parental neglect on self-esteem and psychological well-being of adolescent girls in SHS in
the GA Central Municipality. Descriptive survey design was the research design used. A sample size of 290 adolescent girls was involved in the
study selected from two Senior High Schools in the Ga Central Municipality. Questionnaire was the instrument used. Findings revealed that
emotional neglect, supervisory neglect, education neglect, physical neglect, and medical neglects were found among the girls in the senior high
schools. The results indicates that adolescent girls had high self-esteem, hence parental neglects have no significant effect on their self-esteem
and psychological well-being in the school. It was therefore recommended that educators should have a stakeholder’s engagement on
consequences of the child neglects on the adolescence girls’ development.
