dc.description.abstractThis study sought to investigate the effect of perceived organisational support on organisational citizenship behavior of Ghana Police Service. The study specifically seeks to find out the level of perceived organisational supports (POS) in the Ghana Police Service, the organisational citizenship behaviours (OCB) of the Ghana Police service officers in Ghana and the effect of POS on OCB of the Ghana Police Service officers. Quantitative research method was used to test the causal relationships between perceived organisation support and organisational citizenship behaviour of the Ghana Police Service. This study made use of descriptive research design to provide a detailed account of Perceived Organisation Support, the Organisational Citizenship Behaviour exhibited by the Police Officers, and the impact POS have on OCB. The study employed both purposive sampling technique and snowball sampling technique. Survey questionnaire were used to extract information from the police officers. Descriptive statistics analysis and structural equation model were conducted to find out the impact of POS on OCB. The study found that the Ghana Police Service (GPS) offer higher support to their officers by ignoring their complaints and making their work interesting. However, they also show little concern for them and fail to appreciate any extra effort from them. The study also found that the police officers exhibit more organisation participation and loyalty of coworkers in the Ghana Police Service, while they exhibit less organisation loyalty and organisational obey at the Ghana Police Service. The study concluded that the relationship between POS and OCB is statistically significant. The study suggests the government should provide the GPS with the needed resources for them to be very effective and productive in their duties. The GPS should listen to the complaints of the police officers. The police officers should carry on supporting their fellow colleagues, whether they are absent or not. Further research should explore the impact of POS on OCB in the Army, Navy, and Fire Servicesen_US
